Congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The purpose of my post is to simply congratulate the happy couple and share my thoughts.
I was one of millions who tuned in to the Lifetime movie "Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance". I didn't follow their courtship in the media much before this point. As I typically don't follow celebrity news unless it is someone I have met or have associated with. However, this time, I felt compelled to give my feedback. Given this being the week of their wedding, I especially wanted to extend my congratulations.
Until recently, I was unfamiliar with Meghan Markle. After watching the movie, I understand and appreciate Meghan working hard to be her own person. Overcoming the challenge to be noticed as an actress. Any actor knows all about accepting bit parts and taking jobs while waiting for your big break. She also had to overlook rude comments by people who didn't understand her being of a mixed race heritage. Working hard to overcome obstacles and be independent is admirable. She does deserve credit for that. Yet, the idea of being swept off her feet is exciting to any woman. No matter how independent she is. As a single woman, I am thrilled for her. As an American with British roots I am also happy for the union of the two countries through Harry and Meghan's marriage.
Over the years, the media has followed the Royal family. Especially Princess Diana. She was beautiful, graceful, and a wonderful humanitarian. It was during those years the world also came to know of young William and Harry. The media's fascination was understandable, but there should have been more respect for privacy. The Paparazzi carried their curiosity too far. On August 31, 1997, their intrusiveness resulted in tragedy. The world lost a princess, but William and Harry lost their mother. In their sorrow we offered our prayers and condolences. We shared in their pain, though no one experienced the pain as much as William and Harry.
The years passed and those two young boys grew into charming, handsome young gentlemen. They also contribute to humanitarian work like their mother before them. I'm sure she is looking down on them smiling. Surely she is very proud of her boys.
As we shared in the worst time in their lives, it is nice to be able to share in the best. First William and his marriage to Kate and their growing family. Now, Harry and his wedding. After they experienced such a tragedy so early in their lives, it's wonderful to see each of them so happy.
Harry and Meghan's romance is like a fairy tale come true. Not just because it is a royal romance. It's also the wonderful miracle of two people finding each other and falling so much in love. They make a beautiful couple. As a single woman it is inspiring. It's a reminder that love can be just around the corner at any time.
Congratulations Harry and Meghan! We wish you all the best!
